FINE ART AND COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY: WHAT'S THE MEETING POINT?
Association of Photographers (AOP) in conjunction with ShootLDN
Date: October 10, 2015
Location: Truman Brewery 91 Brick Lane London E1 6QL
The fine art world has its own conventions and requirements that may seem mysterious to photographers who
typically work on assignment. Many photographers consider expanding their commercial work into the fine art world,
but don’t know where to begin in developing projects and bringing them to market in a new arena. This seminar will
provide guidance in helping you to identify your own authentic voice, and show you how to use it to navigate between
the fine art and commercials worlds from a brand, aesthetic and market standpoint.
Beth will analyze the work of well-known photographers and artists who have successfully developed a highly focused
vision across commercial, editorial, and fine markets, as there is no one model for success in both arenas. Your fine art
practice can help to communicate your vision and brand to potential clients as well inspire your commercial photography,
while fine art photographers who find the commercial photography world impenetrable yet attractive will find insight in
how to use their fine art work to enter the commercial world.
Beth will offer some practical tips in getting your work noticed and exhibited.
